Remedial Massage is a Clinical approach to aid soft tissue repair or dysfunction. This type of massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.
The consultation for Remedial treatment is detailed. It will include static postural analysis, range of movement testing and orthopaedic testing if required. This will be followed by the actual treatment that will focus on the dysfunction.
NOTE: You may feel some discomfort during the treatment when the treatment is required to go deep into the muscle. This discomfort may last up to 48 hours after your treatment.
Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often addressed with Remedial Massage include:
Sports and dancing injuries
Cupping is a therapy from traditional Chinese origins. It can however be used in conjunction with your remedial treatment. Glass or plastic cups (I use both depending on client's needs) are positioned onto affected muscles or points, the air is removed from the cups either by heat or suction.
This process is not at all painful however you may experience reddening or bruising of the skin due to congestion of blood flow.
Cupping therapy works by lifting the body's connective tissue, loosening any adhesions and restoring blood flow to areas of the body that have been restricted.
It is an excellent treatment for stress, fatigue, aches and pains. Cupping is used to assist with:
Activate lymph system
Stimulate peripheral nervous system
Improved blood flow
Assist with pain in joints
